What a day! What an opportunity we have been given to bring Honey Bees into the Peninsula. Today, Laura Bickley, Allen Brown and I drove down to Georgetown (DE) to pick up two boxes of honey bees with their queens. Ray Banks, President of the Delaware Bee Association, was at his home handing out boxes of bees from a trailer he had driven to Georgia and back. While we were picking up bees, we were allowed to practice putting bees into hives. Good thing we had our bee suits with us in the car. š¬
Tomorrow is the big day! We will be placing the honey bees into their new hive homes. There will be a few days of carefully tending to the bees feeding them sugar water and synthetic pollen until they can get buzzing on their own.
Thank you to all who have contributed to the Peninsula Honey Bee Keeping Fund. Stay tuned for updates!!!
