The Bees are Coming!!!

I will have to tell you that from the beginning of this blog to now - it's been a ride. Trying to save a small piece of the world is extremely difficult. We have met many obstacles beginning with resistance from the neighborhood management and association. We developed a full proposal, changed recommended bee hive locations 10 times, had a little trepidation about the project (will we get approval, will we succeed, can we keep bees alive, where will we get the money), but we have arrived. I will have to tell you that we almost gave up until we met a neighbor who was a bee keeper in his former years as a monk (yes a separate story which he may tell in this blog).

After obtaining approval from neighborhood management, we created a created a bee keeping email account, opened a bee keeping bank account, and created a YouCaring Fund Raising Website (Yes! There is more to bees than meets the eye). Thanks to our generous and supportive neighbors, we were able to raise $2,450 to start the hives. (We have detailed records on our budget, expenses, donors, etc. which are available for anyone to review).

So... Drumroll, please......On April 26, the bees will arrive to their new little hive homes.

We will drive to Georgetown, DE, to pick up our Italian bees which are coming from Georgia.
